Grand Palace in Bangkok is that one place that requires at least one visit when in Bangkok it’s a spectacular view and the most famous landmark of the city. Built-in 1782 and it was home for 150 years to the Thai king. Grand palace stands for its beautiful architecture and detailed work which is a proof of creativity and craftsmanship of Thai people.
Grand Palace complex is very much like Ayutthaya, the beautiful former capital of Siam. Only two of the royal halls are open to the public. The inner hall is where King's daughter lived and it is like a small town populated by children. Since no royalty currently resides in the court it is completely closed for public. Other highlights are Boromabiman and Samarinda hall, the original residence of the king.
Likewise, other authentic Thai places grand palace applies strict dress code. It is the most sacred site of Thailand. Visitors must be dressed to enter this monument, no bare sleeve no transparency of clothing. Men and women both should over their legs and arms so revealing of skin in one word. If you think you are not wearing enough clothes then there is a counter near the entrance to hire cover-up clothes and costs some baht of course.
A visit to grand palace costs 500 baht and gates are open from 8.30-15.30.
