About Dusit Zoo
Dusit was also known as ‘Khao Din’ and was the oldest zoo in Thailand which makes it an important historical site. Constructed by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) as his private garden next to the Royal Palace, it is located in the heart of Bangkok. One of the biggest aspects that makes the place worth visiting is it attracts approximately 2.5 million visitors . Over 1600 varied species consisting of 331 mammals, 170 reptiles, 849 birds have fixed their shelter in the zoo. The zoo includes a diversity of animals ranging from kangaroos, monkeys, zebras, alligators, penguins, camels and giraffes. White Bengal Tiger and Albino Barking Deer which are on the verge of extinction are important highlights of the site.
