About Sigiriya Museum
Sigiriya Museum is managed by the Central Cultural Fund and is known to be the most attractive museum in South Asia. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site which signifies its technological, archaeological and cultural value. The Sigriya Museum consists of total three sections. The first section represents the Prehistoric Sigriya and explains how humans occupied this area 10,000 years ago. The second one is the early Buddhist monastic periods as well as the pre-Kasyapa period. The last one solely represents King Kasyapa, the period was also known as the ‘Golden Age of Sigriya’. To enter this museum you have to pass through a brick tunnel which looks like a replica of the archway of the Sigriya Fortress. You will not need any guide to visit this museum as the galleries contain drawings, photographs which provide enough information.
