About Godavari River
One of the most holy sites in Deccan. The Godavari River rises in the hills behind Nashik town and goes on to become the second longest in India, flowing through 1465 KMs of countryside to join the sea at the Bay of Bengal. In many places, it is home to temples and bathing spots. The river originates in Triambak, some 16km east of the town where it is possible to see the source trickling out from under a rock outcrop.
