About Asiatic Society of Mumbai (Town Hall)
Asiatic Society of Mumbai is a typical academic society of Asian Studies. Sir James Mackintosh was the founder of this society. The library of the society has over hundred thousand books and study materials. The collection includes nearly 15000 rare and most valuable books. The Structure of Town Hall is a blend of Greek and Roman architecture. It stands elegantly facing the Horniman Circle Gardens in South Mumbai. Persian, Sanskrit and Prakrit manuscripts, rare and precious gold coins, 1300+ maps, five Buddhist caskets etc are major features of the library.
