About Chitrakoot
Famous for the abode of Ram, Sita and Lakshman for eleven years and a half during their exile, Chitrakoot or the ‘hill of many wonders’ falls in the northern range of Vindhyas mountains, in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Located 72 KMs in the southeast of the Banda district, on the road to Allahabad, Chitrakoot dham is an ancient pilgrimage site. Although Chitrakoot is largely celebrated as a holy place mentioned in the Ramayana, there is a lot more to explore. The town has attracted different people spiritualist, soul seekers, poets and visionaries, princes and noblemen to the city over the years.
