About Srisailam
Perched on the Nallamala Hills which are wrapped up by thick deciduous forests, Srisailam or Shrishailam is an important pilgrimage center in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. Srisailam is a small temple town, about 212 km from the city of Hyderabad and 180 kms from Kurnool. Positioned on the banks of the massive river Krishna, this town boasts of the classical shrine of Lord Mallikarjuna on the level top of Nallamala Hills of the Eastern Ghats. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is one of the oldest free-standing temples of India.
Besides being a holy place, Srisailam has scenic landscapes and gushing river Krishna flowing through it. The natures work in Srisailam will definitely entices us.
Srisailam manifests all the prominent features of the Viajayanagara architecture from huge courtyards to engraved pillars to the towering gopuram. The shrines of Uma-Maheshwara and Saraswati are some of the other temples in proximity. The Srisailam Tiger Reserve which is home to Bengal tigers, blackbucks, panthers, chinkaras, Sambar deers, pangolins, leopards, soft-shelled turtles, porcupines, crocodiles and king cobras, is another tourist puller. Another major attraction is the 512m long Srisailam Dam on river Krishna, built in a steep ravine surrounded by the Nallamala hills.

Only vegetarian restaurants are available in Srisailam it is a pilgrimage center. Smoking and Drinking are prohibited. Peak season here is from September to December and February to May.
