Trip Overview
Mt. Chandra Bhaga - 13 (CB 13) is located centrally in the Lahaul valley and i part of the magnificient Chandra Bhaga range in the Batal region of Himachal Pradesh. It stands tall at 6264 mts (20,551 mts). This peak is perfect for a mountaineer aspiring to summit over the 6,000 mts mark.
The peak offers a magnificent view of Kunzum Range, Chandrataal Lake, and the Dhaka Glacier. It lies in the unexplored and silent region of Chandrta Bhaga range and Chandertaal lake in Spiti valley. The approach to CB 13 starts from Batal. One can clearly view the massive Bara Shigri glacier across the valley. Base camp is little above a glacier. The route for the climb is heavily crevassed slope which moves onto the right ridge of the mountain The attempt to the summit is made from here.
The CB 13 and CB 14 are one of the most attractive climbing peaks. It is recommended to have some basic technical climbing experience and sound knowledge of mountaineering. Generally, it is recommended to attempt the CB 14 summit before an attempt at the summit of CB 13, as this offers better acclimatization and technical preparedness. You will be trained on some basic mountaineering techniques and snow craft techniques
An attempt at the summit of CB 13 can safely be categorized as challenging and technical. You are strongly recommended to work on your physical and mental strength.

Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Haripur, Manali (12 - 14 hrs.)
After you arrive at ‘Patlikuhl’, 14 km short of New Manali Bus stand, you will be received by our associate. Unwind at our base camp located in an orchard in Haripur. After having breakfast you can explore Naggar/ Manali.
Today we will complete any required formalities with the local administration and Forest Department. While our team takes care of all the official formalities you get introduced to the team and divide the equipment. Check your bags a final time and go for a shopping if required with the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Return back at base to chat with the team over bonfire and dinner.

Day 2: Haripur - Acclimatization hike- dA kKootT
We'll spend the day getting familair with our team ,our guides and our equipment. After breakfast we'll go for a long hike with our entire expedition load, so that we're comfortable carrying it and also get used to the load.We'll carry some packed lunch and get back to dA kKootT (Our Himalayan Jungle Retreat) for evening tea.We'll check all our personal gear toady and if there is and change needed then the participants must inform the guides and get it done once we return bcak to dA Base. We'll discuss every detail of the expedition so that we are all mentally prepared to climb.

Day 3: dA kKootT-Haripur - Check ,Prepare,Pack.
Hike back from the dA kKootT and have breakfast at dA Base. We'll spend the day preparing, packing and getting anything we remember last minute. W'e'll pack as per our schedule and rest well before a long journey the next day.

Day 4: Haripur - Manali - Rohtang Pass (3970 m) - Batal (3800 m)
In the morning after breakfast we will take a drive of 51 km to Rohtang Pass and from there drive to Batal. There, we will set up a camp for the nigh at 14,100 ft. and will help in acclimatization.

Day 5: Batal - Kunzum Pass - Chandratal (Moon Lake) - Basecamp
Today we drive 50 km to Kunzum Pass (4550 m) and from there trek for a 7 km to reach the Moon Lake. Chandratal Lake or the Moon Lake in Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh lies between a low ridge and the main Kunzum Range. Mostly surrounded by snow, this deep blue-water lake has a circumference of 2.5 km. It is also the source of Chandra River. This is another great way of acclimatization. Day 6: Base camp (4500 m) - Samudri Tapu
After breakfast, we will go on a trek of 5 km to reach the base camp. We will set up the camp when we reach the base camp location. After an evening tea, we will go for an acclimatization walk. Overnight stay in tents.-at Samudra Tapu

Day 7: Sutli camp - Dakka glacier
Today we trek to the Dhaka glacier for some ascending and descending practice on snow and ice with crampons and climbing boots. And practice some climbing techniques like how to self-arrest, rope up climbing, fixed rope climbing and then return back to base camp. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 8: Dhaka Glacier - Load ferry to the advance camp (camp-II at 5300 m)
Today we do we will ferry some of the camping equipment to set up the base camp. Everyone is supposed to do the load ferry including the clients. Clients are expected to have the fitness level required to do atleast 2-3 load ferries if the need arises. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 9: Acclimatisation at the advance base camp (camp-II at 5300 m)
Today we shift to the advance base camp. In the evening we go for a short walk and to take a look at the route that we will have to take the next day. After an early dinner, make sure you will have a good night sleep because we will have to wake up early in the morning for reaching the summit and descending before it gets dark. goodnight sleep. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 10: Advance base camp to Summit camp (5800 m)
Early morning around 04:00 am we start the climb. For the first few meters we have to climb on Moraine and after that, we have to follow the ridge for reaching the summit camp.

Day 11: Summit camp to the Summit of CB 13 (6264 m) and descend to base camp
Early morning at around 2:00 am we will start climbing. For the first few meters we will have to climb on moraines and after that, we have to follow the ridge for the summit. After the summit, we descend safely to the base camp

Day 12: (Buffer day for Summit attempt)
Day 13: Base camp - Batal
We'll leave base camp by 9:00 am and reach Batal. We'll be staying in Batal for the night and good rest.

Day 15: Batal - Manali
The expedition comes to an end. And you will be celebrating in Traditional Himachali Style with an awesome celebratory meal. Later arrangements will be made to drop participants to the bus stop.

Guests who would like to extend their vacation and chill or enjoy angling and other adventure activities with us are welcome to do so at minimum additional cost.

Important Information
There are a few main pre-requisite to taking expeditions in the mighty Himalayas:
1. Basic Mountaineering Course (80% of the team members should be BMC qualified - only 2 out of 10 Indian members can be non-BMC)
2. You should have done at least 1 high altitude climb and at least 2 long high-altitude treks in the Himalayas
3. You should be able to complete at 6 to 7 km run in about 30 mins and you should be able to walk with a 10-12 kg weight on your back for up to 10-12 hours. you have to be fit enough to do load ferry (shifting load between high camps) during the expedition if required. Strength, stamina and strong mindset are key elements of an expedition...above all, a strong mind.
Conduct of the Trek
- Camps on Trek: Spacious tents (dome tents/alpine tents) to be shared by 2/3 persons respectively. The tents will be pitched on a meadow or flat ground with insulated rubber/foam/rubber mattresses. Sleeping bags will be provided with a fleece sleeping liner for each to be used personally and returned at the end of the trek.
- Kitchen Tent: There will be a separate kitchen and dining tents. For a small group (for strength of 2-6 people) we carry kitchen cum dining tents. The camp area will have a sack to throw trash, a water point to fetch drinking water and a washing point. Our staff will help with any task related to maintenance of the campsite and keeping things available.
- Toilets on Trek: The toilets will be dry pit toilets where a pit will be dug and will contain a hump of mud inside the tent with a trowel in each toilet tent.
- Utensils on Trek: Provision of utensils would be there for every trekker but we strongly recommend carrying lunch boxes for days when packed food needs to be given. Carry boxes which can be covered with a lid. We do not use Aluminium foil papers to pack the food and to be given to each trekker, as we make an effort to take minimum plastic/ foils in mountains making close to no environmental impact.
- Trip Leader: He will conduct the entire program and take decisions in consultations with the team and depending on the weather, snow and other situations on the ground
- Local Staff: We hire local staff as our support crew like a cook, trip guide, kitchen helpers, porters, mule persons. These are expert in their fields and the region.
- Meals: On treks, typically you will not be required to carry anything to eat apart from your personal trail food. Our meal program starts with morning tea(not to be confused with bed tea), breakfast, tea/ coffee, fruits and juice for the trail, hot lunch, evening tea with snacks, soup, dinner and last hot drinks like Bournvita or ginger lemon tea.
- Leave no Trace: We strictly follow leave no trace policies on any trek i.e. making zero impact on the environment like avoiding packed plastic foods, making the camp drenches filled up with mud again to make it viable for other trekkers in future, camping on durable surfaces, minimize campfire impacts, dispose of waste properly.
Things to Pack
- A backpack of 50-65 L capacity with rain cover
- Day Pack 15 - 20 L - To carry your personal gear, camera, water bottle, trail clothing, packed food etc. (you will need this when you offload your larger pack onto a horse/porter)
Footwear
- Trekking Shoes: Please do not wear sports shoes as on most treks as we go higher it gets harder to use sports shoes. We recommend shoes with a good hard sole and also ankle support preferable waterproof. While we do not subscribe to any particular brand you can try the Quechua Forclaz 600 or like.
Socks
- 3-4 pairs of cotton socks
- 1-2 pair of woollen socks (best to use when in camp. Not recommended while trekking)
Clothing
- Pants: 2-3 pairs - Ideal is the quick dry lightweight synthetic pants. Alternatively, track pants are also comfortable to trek in. Avoid jeans/ denim
- T-shirts 2-3 pairs – Preferably full sleeves
- Synthetic Fleece Jacket - 1 pair
- Windproof/ Waterproof Jacket - 1 pair
- Down-filled/Hollow fibre fill insulated Jacket - 1 -pair (optional - get this if you want to stay extra warm at camps)
- Thermal liners - 1 pair upper and lower (optional)
Accessories
- Raincoat/Poncho - make sure it is something that will cover your daypack and camera too
- Warm beanie - make sure it is something that covers your ears. You can also use buffs, scarves etc in addition to your beanie
- Gloves - Lightweight synthetic gloves made of Fleece or you can also use woollen gloves
- Sun Cap - 1
- Sun Glasses with good UV protection is a must
- Toiletries - Sunscreen SPF 40+, moisturizer, lip balm, soap, toilet paper

Personal first aid kit
- We carry a proper medical kit for any kind of emergency or any basic illness, we still recommend everyone in the outdoors to always carry a personal medication kit. A personal kit could include any medicines that you have been using previously using for any kind of illness or any medical condition like spondylitis, epilepsy, diabetes.etc
- We recommend you to carry a kit always while travelling and it must include basic medicines and first aid for, headache, cold, cough, fever, ORS (must carry) basic OTC painkillers, bandages, analgesic spray etc.

- All programs are subject to change due to political reason, natural calamities, serious sickness, and special reasons.
- Please note that cancellation charges also apply to reductions in group size, not only for cancellations of entire bookings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
For foreign nationals, Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) registration cost is $500 for up to 2 members up to 7, additional member cost of $200 per member and each member additional after 7 is $250 per person. Allowed batch size is 12 members for an expedition.
