About Umm al-Quwain
The dreamy town of Umm al-Quwain has a large topographical diversity; lush mangroves line the coastal creeks, while the inland leads to sand dunes and glittering oasis. Contrasting to the hustle and bustle of Dubai, the town has a drowsy vibe, with no major malls or international hotels, however, it houses the world’s largest water park, Dreamland Aqua Park. Apart from a large number of rides, the facility also offers go karting, beach volleyball, water polo and camping that lure both children and adults.
The Dhow Building Yard is a popular attraction where one can watch native craftsmen build traditional boats, highlighting the true culture of the town. On the other hand, sightseeing can be carried out at Umm Al Quwain Museum, where relics of the Bronze Age are found. Camel racing and desert safaris are other thrilling options to enjoy among the massive sand dunes. For children, the aquarium can also be given a quick visit, or birds like flamingos and gulls can be spotted migrating at the nearby Al Sinniyah Island. Umm al-Quwain is a pleasant little town to visit, to roam about, but yet blend into the lazy atmosphere.
