Bhuvaneswari Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneswari, nestled atop the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Bhuvaneswari is the feminine ruler of the universe. Bhuvaneswari Temple is a little higher than the Kamakhya Temple. Ambubachi Mela is celebrated with great fervor in the temple. This annual mela is celebrated during the monsoon season that happens to fall during the Assamese month Ahaar, around mid- June. Thousands of pilgrims are found to visit the Ambubachi Mela in Guwahati, who comes from all over India. Although it is mainly celebrated in the Kamakhya Temple, the Bhuvaneshwari Temple is also a major spectator of this mela. There is no entrance fee to this temple so feel free and drop in to enjoy this historic temple along with its breathtaking view.
