About Hastinapur Sanctuary
Founded in 1986, in Meerut, Ghaziabad, The Hastinapur Sanctuary is spread over an area of 2073 sq kms. It is inhabited by various types of wild animals which include antelopes, cheetals, sambhars, leopards, wild cats, hyenas and number of different types of birds. Swamp Deer and Blue Bull are the main wildlife here.Spectacular painted storks, sarus cranes and diverse night birds of prey, ranging from the great owl to colorful woodpeckers, kingfishers and minivets, can be spotted flying through the forest shade. A number of alligators can to be found here. Given this, the Hastinapur National Park is rich in faunal wealth. The best time to visit would from January to June. There are many beautiful and picturesque spots within the sanctuary. Hundreds of people come here from near as well as distant places to enjoy relaxed evenings. The sanctuary with its bountiful wild creatures is a favorite with photo enthusiasts as well.
