About Keibul Lamjao National Park
Keibul Lamjao national park is the one and only floating park across the globe. Located in the Manipur State, the park is part of Loktak Lake. The park is basically a swamp with floating mass of vegetation (called phumdis), at the south-eastern side of the Loktak Lake, which has been declared a Ramsar site.
The park has a conservation program for endangered species namely Brow-antlered Deer or dancing deer called sangai by locals. Apart from this Golden Cat, Hornbill, rock python, Sambar deer etc. can be sighted within the park.
The best way to see Keibul Lamjao National Park is by boat in the morning or evenings. There observation towers with the park as well for a good view of sangai habitat. Best time to visit the park is from October to February. There are two resthoiuses within the park, one at Phubala and the other at Sendra, which is the main island on Loktak Lake. Keibul Lamjao National Park is 53 KMs from Imphal.
