About Pawapuri Jain Temple
The Pawapuri Jain Temple is situated at a distance of about 100 km Southeastern end of Patna. Lord Mahivra had spent his last days in this temple and attained nirvana here. It is believed by many that the spot where he was buried became so famous among his disciples that each wanted to take a pinch of the holy earth, as a result of which earth became hollow enough to form a large pond, which still exists today. There are five main other temples in Pawapuri - the Jal Mandir, the Gaon Mandir, the Samosaran, the New Samosaran and another temple built by Bibi Mehetab Kumari. The temple is of high religious importance among the Jain devotees.
