About Hubli
Mostly termed as the Twin Cities in North Karnataka region, Hubli-Dharwad is second largest urban region next to Bengaluru. Even though termed as the Twin Cities, Dharwad is 20 km away from Hubli. Under the Vijayanagar Empire, Hubli attained its glory in trade and commerce. Cotton, Saltpetre and iron are the major products of Hubli. In the ancient times, the city was termed as Rayara Hubli and was ruled by Chalukyas and s Empire. The city was controlled by Bijapur Sultanate, Marathas, Mughals and British Raj. The city is also renowned for handloom weaving and textiles. Hubli and Dharwad have same Municipal Corporation. Next to Bengaluru Hubli-Dharwad is the largest corporation in Karnataka State.
Being most fascinating tourist spot Hubli-Dharwad has an exotic range of hotels which provide comfort for the tourists. Some of them are Mayur Aaditya Resort, Ananth Residency, The Hans Hotel, Kamat Yatri Nivas and Hotel Metropolis, etc.
Being Uttara Kannada, cuisines in Hubli-Dharwad is a blend of Karantaka, Maharashtra and Andhra cuisines. Main dishes are made from jowar, wheat and rice. Lots of Vegetables, garlic and peanuts are used in their menus. Many restaurants here offer authentic Uttara Kannada Cuisine along with other Cuisines. Some of the best restaurants are Woodlands Hotels, Gurudatt Bhavan, New Karnataka Bhavan, Spice Up, A1 Punjab, etc. Dharwad Peda is made up of milk which is a famous dessert in Hubli and are available in many shops of Hubli.
