Trek to the magnificent Dayara Bugyal and see this wonder for yourself. During winter Dayara Bugyal is an ideal place for snow sports like Skiing and Snowboarding. In winter the entire valley will be covered in a blanket of snow and a lush green meadow will welcome you during other times. The trail we follow sometime passes through patches of beautiful oak forests. It offers a clear view of the Gangotri range. The peaks of Draupadi ka Danda, Srikanth and Deonli will reveal before you. This trek gives you the opportunity to visit one of the best bugyals in Uttarakhand. Don’t pass it at any cost.
Dayara Bugyal Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun - Barsu - Barnala Tal | 220 km - 7 hours – 5 km - 2 hours Trek
- The reporting time for the participants in Dehradun is 6:30 am.
- You will be driven through the towns of Narendranagar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Bhatwari to reach Barsu. Finally, you will be driven 30 km uphill.
- Barsu village is a quaint little village with a village tank and a GMVN guesthouse. This village is a paradise for the bird lovers, especially with its ground birds sighting.
- It is very easy to spot a black eagle during this trek. You will be pitching tents 5 km above Barsu village and spent the night beside a bonfire with a hot dinner.
Day 2: Barnala Tal - Dayara Bugyal | 2.5 km - 1 hour Trek (Additional 4-6 km for exploring the meadow)
- You will start trekking after a nice warm breakfast. The trek to Dayara Bugyal passes through Barnala Bugyal. It is a 6 km trek and once you clear the tree line the walk becomes very rewarding with the unending views of the snow peaks.
- After arriving at Dayara Bugyal you will pitch your tents there. Rest of the evening can be spent in trekking up to Bakaria top, the highest point in the meadow and/or exploring the nearby Gidara Bugyal which has a close view of the Banderpunch peaks.
Day 3: Dayara Bugyal - Barsu - Dehradun | 7.5 km - 3 hours Trek – 6 hours Drive
- You will start the day post breakfast and head down to Barsu. You will then be driven back all the way to Dehradun.

Toilet tents are set-up at the campsites. These are dry-pit temporary toilets and most hygienic as well as convenient way to answer nature’s call in the wild.

You will receive good network up to the towns of Mussoorie, Rishikesh. Beyond these network is intermittent and quite weak. Please inform anxious family members in advance that you will be out of coverage area during this trek. There will be no electric charging points anywhere on the trek.

Ideally trekking shoes/boots with ankle support are needed for any trek in the Himalayan region. Quechua shoes available at Decathlon are a value for money option.
