Fatehpur Sikri & Chand Baori Guided Tour Itinerary.
- At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Agra and then set off to the enigmatic Fatehpur Sikri and drive for about an hour to get there.
- Welcome to the best-preserved ghost town in the world! We'll start touring this UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire how its various buildings perfectly combine Indian and Arabian architecture.
- Fatehpur Sikri was only inhabited for less than 20 years due to the scarcity of water in the area. The city built by order of Mughal emperor Akbar in the 16th century fell into oblivion. Its impressive, monumental legacy, however, has survived to the present day.
- During the visit, we'll see the impressive Buland Darwaza Gate, the mosque, the tomb of the saint Salim Chishti, and many other important landmarks.
- After exploring Fatehpur Sikri, we'll hop back on the bus and travel for two hours to Abhaneri, where we'll visit the famous Chand Baori cistern. It's undoubtedly one of the most magical and picture-worthy places in the state of Rajasthan.
- We'll go back in time to the 9th century to talk about the origins of this huge water reservoir, which has become one of the most famous monuments in India. You'll also learn why this area was chosen to house the deepest stepwell in the country.
- Lastly, we'll take you to your hotel in Bundi after 8 to 10 hours of excursion, or, if you wish, we can end the tour in Bundi and drop you off somewhere in the city center.
