  • Hampi is located in the east-central part of the South Indian state of Karnataka. It was the centre of the Vijayanagara empire in the 14th century. Hampi was the world's second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing by the year 1500 CE and probably India's richest. Hampi is dotted by the ruins of the empire, which once flourished, temples, and mahals (palaces). Hampi lies on the banks of the Tungabhadra River and has good connectivity from Goa, Secundrabad, and Bangalore.

Day 1: Pickup from Bangalore & travel to Hampi

  • You will be travelling a distance of approximately 360 km from Bangalore to Hampi; it will take you about 9 to 10 hours, including your refreshment breaks on the journey.
  • Depending on your arrival time, you may want to visit a few places on day 1 of your trip.
  1. Virupaksha Temple: Located in Hampi, Karnataka, Virupaksha Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest functioning temples in India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of Virupaksha, it is known for its impressive architecture, intricate carvings, and annual festivals, attracting devotees and tourists alike.
  2. Hampi Bazaar: Situated in the heart of Hampi, Hampi Bazaar is a bustling street lined with ancient stone structures, small shops, and eateries. It serves as the main commercial hub of the historic city, offering a glimpse into its vibrant past and present-day culture.
