About Nuwara Eliya
Famously know as ‘Little England’, the picturesque town of Nuwara Eliya is a quaint little hill station situated in central Sri Lanka. During peak seasons, the town gets flooded with tourists who escape city life to live amidst nature and relish the pleasant weather. The town’s major attractions are the Victoria Park, a quiet and serene place for birdwatching, and Lake Gregory, an ideal fishing and boating spot. The lush green tea plantations fill the air with a refreshing scent and provide breath-taking views of the hills, especially during the rainy seasons.
During the Tamil New Year in April, the town is extremely lively and buzzing with major celebrations, however, prices hike up considerably. Vast golf courses, tea plantation tours, trout fishing, hiking and pretty waterfalls are significant means of entertainment and indulgence. Greatly influenced by the British landscaping, Nuwara Eliya is decorated by colonial bungalows, red telephone booths, neatly cut hedgerows and rose gardens. During quieter times, the town has the ability to transform one’s body and soul into a complete state of tranquility and peace, ensuring that they leave completely refreshed and rejuvenated!
